by Guy Crittenden August 06, 2014

On August 2nd, 2014, the Michigan Waterfowl Hunters Association held its annual Waterfowl Stamp art competition at the Saginaw Bay Visitor Center in Bay City, Michigan.  A panel of seven judges selected the art of Richmond, Virginia artist Guy Crittenden as the first place entry.  The oil painting of a pair of Common Goldeneye in flight over Lake Superior and Eagle Harbor Lighthouse will become the 2015 Michigan Waterfowl Stamp.  Guy had placed 3rd in his both of his two previous Michigan contests in 2012 and 2013.  In 2014, Guy has won Duck Stamp Competitions in Virginia, Connecticut, Oklahoma and Louisiana as well.  "Michigan is such an important state for North American Waterfowl, and there are so many hunters and wildlife enthusiasts in that region.  I am so pleased that my art will be featured on next year's Waterfowl Stamp."  Guy will be publishing a limited edition Artist Proof series in mid 2015 to coincide with the issue of the new Michigan duck stamps.
