"Ruddy Drake" is the featured image for the 2017 -2018 Nevada Waterfowl Conservation Stamp and Print. The original oil painting was chosen as the winner and will grace the waterfowl hunting stamp for the coming season. This drake ruddy is actually painted in its breeding plumage which is distinguishable from the winter plumage. The ruddy drake is a deep rusty red on its breast, flanks and back, with a black cap, white cheeks and a bright blue bill. "This little diving duck is beautiful in the breeding plumage, and is frequently seen in a compact resting position on the water. If you look closely, you will see that this little man is wearing a leg band."
