Sailboats at Ruark's Marina, Deltaville, Va.
One of the real gems of coastal Virginia is the Piankitank River and its quaint little anchorage called Fishing Bay. I've spent many summer days in the last 25 years with my family here on the banks of the Piankitank. This painting was inspired by one of those perfect summer mornings, when the puffy white clouds reflect so clearly in the deep blue waters of Fishing Bay. In the distance are the familiar sailboats docked at Ruark's Marina, with their white hulls and long tall masts casting reflections that dance on the water. This painting for me was an impressionistic approach to capturing the beauty of sky and water in one of the most beautiful places in Virginia. Now in corporate collection.
This painting is available as a print and other products though Fine Art America.
