Deep in the Mountains of Bath County, Virginia, there is a perfect little mountain brook called Cascades. The property is owned by the Homestead Resort, and you can hike the trail that follows the brook for about a mile. There are many little falls along the trail, and this painting is a study of one of those perfect little whitewater pools, framed by the spruce and elm that catch the afternoon light.
