Virginia artist Guy Crittenden chose a trio of Northern Shovelers standing in the shallows in an interesting composition featuring the beautiful feathering of the two drakes and the unique head and bill profiles of these North American puddle ducks. "I have always loved the colors of these curious looking birds. You will find these ducks on open marshes and feeding the the shallows of fresh water impoundments along the Eastern Seaboard."
