"Black Duck Hideaway"

I grew up believing the Black Duck was the most coveted prize of all waterfowl.  If you grew up hunting on the East Coast of North America, you would probably have the same sentiments about this wary bird.  This painting was inspired by a place called "Blackwater Refuge" on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.  The area holds thousands of black ducks in the winter, but you would never know it.  They find the most remote creeks, ponds and lowgrounds and disappear into the labyrinth of waterways.  They are mystical and beautiful birds.   For fun, you can try to find the 12 Black Ducks, 8 Mallards, 7 Pintails, a blue heron and a Red-Tailed Hawk.
